When EndeavorRx first launched in 2020 and gained FDA clearance as a prescription digital therapeutic (PDT) for children with ADHD, it made headlines nationwide. The idea of using a video game to treat attention deficits was groundbreaking — and understandably met with excitement and caution.
Now, a few years later, we have a clearer picture of where EndeavorRx fits in the larger ADHD treatment landscape.
What the Research and Families Are Saying
At Summit Psychiatry Associates, we’ve followed the data closely. As noted in earlier articles from Psychiatric Times and Mother.ly, EndeavorRx showed modest improvements in attention for some children — especially when used alongside traditional therapies like medication and behavioral intervention.
However, long-term engagement has proven challenging. Some children lost interest in the game over time, which limited its usefulness as a consistent tool. Like many digital tools, its effectiveness varies depending on the child’s needs, motivation, and how it’s integrated into a broader care plan.
Is It Still Worth Considering?
Yes — but with clear expectations. EndeavorRx can still be a valuable adjunctive tool for certain pediatric patients, especially those:
- Who are not yet ready for medication
- Who benefit from engaging, gamified structure
- Who have partial response to standard treatments
At Summit, we don’t recommend digital therapeutics in isolation, but we do see their value when thoughtfully combined with clinical support, behavioral coaching, and progress monitoring.
A Modern, Balanced ADHD Approach
We continue to support families through personalized ADHD care that may include:
- Neurocognitive testing (QBCheck, CNSVS, Clinicom)
- Medication management
- Parent coaching
- Behavioral therapy
- Selective use of digital tools like EndeavorRx
